Unidentified Human Remains and the Nature of True Love had its American premiere in Chicago in 1991. The Chicago production, a commercial tryout with an out-of-town cast and crew preparing for their New York debut, was a hit and ran for over a year, leaving a huge impact on audiences. Since then, the play has only been produced once in Chicago, making Cor’s the first “real deal” Chicago production in nearly 20 years.
Moreover, the title has been tightened to Love and Human Remains, the script has been revised, and the playwright has given Cor permission to update the time and place of the story. To that end, director Ernie Nolan has updated the play to Chicago, present time. However, the original story of a gay man and his heterosexual female roommate looking for love and sexual gratification while a serial killer is on the loose in the city remains the same.
